Pupils Help Launch Exciting New Beach Project
Pupils from Chapel St Leonards Primary School recently took part in the launch of the Love Our Beach Project, an inspiring community initiative designed to encourage children to care for and take pride in their local coastline.
The special event brought children together on the beach alongside representatives from local organisations and community groups. One of the highlights of the morning was creating a giant human heart in the sand, symbolising the school’s shared love for the beach and the community.
The project has been developed by Happy Chappy Beach Buddy, which supports children through local events and provides disability beach wheelchairs, in partnership with local artist, photographer and author Steve Gould.
Throughout the year, pupils will take part in a range of creative and environmental activities aimed at helping them become the future guardians of the coastline. Planned activities include storytelling sessions based on Steve Gould’s Kitty Krew books, art workshops, community painting projects, recycled art activities, beach-based learning and litter awareness initiatives.
The launch event was a fantastic opportunity for children to learn more about protecting the environment while celebrating the beauty of their local area. The morning concluded with refreshments and treats generously donated by members of the local community, highlighting the strong community spirit behind the project.
We are proud to see our pupils playing an active role in caring for their local environment and look forward to seeing how they help make a positive difference to our coastline through the Love Our Beach project.
